I once had an education to be a gardener. But I never worked as one. Instead I had several jobs, which I was able to combine with painting. I still do combine both art and work for a living. Born 43 years ago far more than half that time I have been painting, drawing and searching for my standard of beauty.

Since May 1990 I started painting the style you will find here at Global Windows. Gouaches on rice paper. This technique that gave me so many more possibilities for expression that I consider 1990 to be the most important turning point in my creative work.

Because some of my paintings look somewhat like designs for stained Glass objects I do real stain glass and tiffany windows too.

For me, painting is connecting with people. If I can feel the right Spirit it is possible to reflect that specific feeling in a drawing or painting. This is what it is all about. Catching the right mood and Emotion has a certain power of connecting people, again and again.

Paintings are visual media, and have been used as a medium for ages already. It has proved to be a well tried medium to communicate with.

Now with photography, film, video and everything, I think it is no longer good enough to copy reality as it is. I like to twist it a little. Then suddenly new impressions and images of existing things appear. This is also one of the reasons why I like to work in a figurative way. I think a picture should have a story. I think abstract question marks and conceptual things have done this for me.

The most important source of inspiration for me is stained glass and all the visual color of the compound light coming from the different colors of every individual piece of glass in the old Gothic church windows. This Gothic art was a pure European art form.

Important themes, I use are fish, flowers, people, and birds. Mostly I like to work in series. This way every next painting fits in and goes on like a self renewing process, such as every new light beam through a stained glass window constantly gives new images and colors. Every new day, new ideas and new forms develop new paintings. I call my art, paintings, windows, statues and mosaics, "The New Gothics".
